The brief: Find a community and culture that authentically intersects with dry shampoos.

Our solution: Inspired by the active lifestyles that dry shampoo empowers, we partnered with GRLSWIRL – a women-founded skate collective based in Venice beach with chapters worldwide. Our idea, the Sephora x GRLSWIRL Quick Fix Pop-Up, focused on simple fixes – whether it be dry shampoo hairstyles or sweet treats – and fostering an authentic community experience. After their monthly group skate, attendees were delighted to find our activation with professional hair styling, a custom-wrapped truck with free ice cream, dry shampoos & other hair goodies, a one-of-a-kind skateboard giveaway, a Sephora Sounds DJ, a vibrant photo wall for snapping pics, and more.

At the event, we also captured content that could later on be used as an evergreen post for Sephora’s social channels.

The results: Sephora showed up in a meaningful and authentic way, the event was GRLSWIRL’s most interactive group skate to date, and we earned over 1.4M impressions on social.

My role: Community research, social listening, pitching to client, experiential activation concepting and development, organic social planning, copywriting, production odds and ends on site.

the quick fix truck

A custom wrapped truck was stocked with goodies for our attendees to take home with them. Dry shampoos, hair clips, stickers, fanny packs, pins, and even real ice cream.

We tapped the local artist behind ZigZag Goods to create charms for our keychain making station.

We handed out printed checklists for our attendees. The line items were all crafted to create more community and engagement at the event!

We had professional hair stylists do skate and helmet-friendly hairdos using the dry shampoos Sephora was promoting.

We brought in community member Naomi to hand-paint a skateboard deck to use as the raffle winner prize.
